Hello! I'm Alerian Lockwood, the owner of Rainflower Gardens. I grew up in a forest in northern California, and have always felt a deep connection with plants and nature. One of my favorite childhood memories was skipping school, going to a nursery, and planting a hillside perennial garden at age 13. I began gardening intensively in 2010, gave up my legal practice in 2018, enrolled in the Landscape Design degree at Edmonds College. I feel deep gratitude to be a garden designer and pursue my greatest passion everyday.
I install and design small and medium gardens. I also do selective maintenance on existing clients' gardens. I have had the pleasure and honor to design and install a wide range of specialty gardens: woodland, forest, tropical, crevice, xeric, traditional English, edible, rock, and waterfall-based gardens.

I also do garden consultations, garden coaching and education- I love sharing the joys of gardening!

My focus is on sustainably crafting unique gardens that reflect my clients' needs and budgets. I value clear communication and treat my clients with kindness and respect. A garden is a piece of art that changes with time and requires maintenance. I emphasize building quality soil teeming with life as the first step, and often suggest slower approaches that allow mother nature to assist in the process. These regenerative techniques are usually less expensive for my clients as well and the resulting gardens more vibrant.
